Holiday with Elderly Parents

I was too busy talking and didn't spend much time looking around.

On Rainbow Road, near Lake Tennyson, just to the left of the Odd Sock below.

Can you see my parents having a nice stroll?
The scariest thing was the very sick sheep in the cage on the truck just in front of us!

Odd Sock

For Kath; spotted at the Hanmer end of Rainbow Road, near Lake Tennyson. Mom and I couldn't not stop laughing; Mom. of course, having become your fan instantly.

The Way I See It...

Dear Rudy

I couldn't find that particular mini dragon in Queen's Gardens but the other ones today were about 7-12cm long. There were many on the ground, but not one as nice as the one I shot. So, here's a present for you - a leaf suspended in air! The truth is, it was sitting on a spider web.

Make Sure You Decompress Before Surfacing

Is that the right lingo: Decompress? I have a friend back in Japan who's been diving since the mid 70's and she told me about this thing she has to do before she comes back up again. Happy Valentine's Day, everybody.

Queen's Gardens

Some Feel Good pics for all of you in the Northern winter.

Mini Dragon? There are no snakes in New Zealand.

Homework

Rita suggested I try B&W with these monstrosities, and I finally did. It was very interesting because I kept looking for different things when looking at the screen showing only B&W, though I can't quite describe what I was looking for or looking at. Looking at the series now, I find these B&W photos so silent and peaceful. Thanks for the suggestion, Rita.

Nathalie recommended I try the reflections on this one. The water was seriously murky and full of plants, and this day was hotter and clearer, but I did go back around the same time of the day. The birds were all over creating ripples, and there's even a water fountain right behind the piece (from this angle) creating more ripples. This one, I think I'll go back on a clear winter day and try again. Thanks for the suggestion, Nathalie.

However, later that day, I continued to look for reflections. This one, I like, though it looks better smaller!

Serious Trouble

I thought this was so funny because, honestly, I thought it said, "Nelson MP Pees Under Tree - Accident Boy Back on Feet". Our MP (Member of Parliament) does make the front page often, mostly for his rogue antics within the chamber, but I was amused that they would call him "Accident Boy".

My headline would have been funnier.

Too Hot to Move

I was about a meter away fro these guys - it was too hot they couldn't be bothered moving. At Queen's Garden.

Fish Net Stockings on a Purple Flower

I was intrigued by the look of the bud and the part below the petals - there's probably a Latin name for the part. The wind was blowing and the stalk kept swaying but trying for 20 minutes seemed to have paid off. Can anyone tell me the name of the flower? I'd love to have some in our place.

Get Me Outta Here

It took me (and Ben) lots of time, energy, and money to get here, and all I could think of at this moment was, "anywhere but here".

Bored

I said I'd be at my Exhibit(ion) the whole time, weaving on my loom. I also said I'd stay open late on Fridays just in case my working friends want to stop by. But 3PM onwards the gallery gets so hot, and on Fridays, in Nelson, you can't expect anyone to come and see wool shawls when they'd rather rush off to the beach. I'm SO bored, it reminds me of when I was the only child for 6.5 years and on some days I didn't have anyone to play with.

If you look at the thumbnail of this photo, it starts to look like a teal sheep with horns, or the Oldest (Last?) Human on Dr Who.

Later, Claudia, my exhibitions consultant (that's what I'm calling her from now on), came to have a look and we thought of more great ideas in the event I'd do another Exhibit(ion); she's so innovative it's inspiring to talk to her, but she was getting a little worried about my obsession with the Arts Council loo.
